Reducing or compacting video files...?

Im trying to burn a motion picture to dvd and i need to make smaller the size some how, iv tried fast encodeing and reducing level but i just cant downsize the size enough to fit it onto the disc, does anyone hold any other suggestions?

get a program such as pinacle systems studio. you can adaptation the file format, the nurture rate and other such parameters to generate the video take up smaller amount memory. you can also add transitions, titles, etc.
Try spanning the record acrosss multiple CDs/DVD/s when you burn it. Your burning software should be able to do this.
