My request for information is her cd-rom isn't playing her cds..Can someone help me?
My sister have a desktop compac computer window xp?
There could be several reason the drive doesn't read. First it might just be dirty. Get one of those compact disc cleaners and run it. You can get one at lately about any place that sell CD's.
Second, check the BIOS and make sure that it is seeing the drive. If not, do a Auto Detect for it.
Third, unplug both the IDE and the power cable and afterwards plug them back contained by.
And fourth, you may need to replace the drive. It's not a frozen job, of late a few screws.
First try the cd's surrounded by another computer. If they work on another computer then it is the disc drive. If the cd's don't work then it's the CDs. If the drive is doomed to failure you can go to Wal-Mart or Circuit City or places similar to that and buy a new drive. You can put it surrounded by yourself or take it to your local repair shop and they can replace it for ya. I work on computers for a living and replacing a disc drive is one of the most simple things to replace.
