I am order a new application/file server and I am wondering how a Dual Core Intel(R) Pentium(R)D 925, 2x2MB Cache, 3.0GHz, 800MHz FSB compares near a Dual Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) 3040, 2MB Cache, 1.86GHz, 1066MHz FSB. I have minimum requirements of a Pentium D 2.8 GHZ, will the xeon run into this? From what I have read I believe it will, but specifics would be appreciated. Thanks!
Pentium D or Xeon?
The Xeon is better, and by a pretty clothed margin. The Pentium D is base on old NetBurst architecture, while this Xeon is base on Intel's new Core Microarchitecture, duplicate stuff used in the Core 2 Duos. So yes not one and only will it meet minimum requirements, it acceeds them.
the xeon processor be made for servers so its probably a better pick
The Xeon processors are a lot faster.i would particularly go next to that.
Thanks,
Mike
